Sculptor
Elia Alunni Tullini (b. 1986, Foligno, Italy) is an Italian contemporary sculptor whose practice explores the relationship between the human body, material, and memory. Working primarily with reinforced concrete, ceramic resin, and bronze, he creates sculptures that investigate vulnerability, resilience, identity, and the shifting balance between the individual and contemporary society. He lives and works in Foligno.
Central to Tullini’s practice is the belief that materials carry their own emotional and symbolic language. Reinforced concrete, often associated with permanence and modern architecture, is pushed toward fracture and erosion, exposing the fragility beneath its apparent strength. Ceramic, by contrast, evokes archaeology, craftsmanship, and cultural memory. Together, these materials establish a dialogue between permanence and impermanence, tradition and modernity.
Rather than pursuing idealized forms, Tullini embraces cracks, voids, and unfinished surfaces as essential elements of his work. His figures exist between construction and disintegration, becoming metaphors for the emotional complexity of contemporary life. Through fractured bodies and weathered surfaces, he invites viewers to reflect on how identity is shaped by time, experience, and transformation, suggesting that vulnerability is an intrinsic part of the human condition.
Although his artistic language is distinctly contemporary, it is grounded in exceptional craftsmanship. After beginning his career as a self-taught sculptor, Tullini refined his practice at Milan’s historic Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, where he trained alongside master bronze artisans and contributed to works by internationally renowned sculptors. This experience continues to inform his balance of technical mastery and conceptual depth.
Exhibited throughout Italy and internationally, including the London Art Biennale, Tullini’s sculptures resist spectacle in favor of quiet contemplation. Through material, form, and silence, his work offers a meditation on the enduring fragility—and resilience—of the human experience.
